Welcome to the Rice University RSS Events feed. Using this feed with an RSS reader will keep you up-to-date with events occurring at Rice University while allowing you to only receive information about the events that interest you.
What is RSS?
Really Simple Syndication is a reader (a specialized web browser) into which frequently updated websites (such as news websites or the Rice Events Calendar) feed. Each website is a channel within the reader. Since you choose the website you want to feed into your reader, you only get the information you want. RSS readers also automatically show you the updated items on each website, so instead of jumping from one website to the next, looking for updates, you have all the latest info available in a nice, neat package
How to use RSS with the Rice Events Calendar
The first step is to get an RSS reader. On the right is a list of recommended readers for different operating systems. The next step is to set up your RSS reader to retrieve Rice events. There are two ways to do this. The first option is to use the standard RSS events feed (see Standard Events RSS Feed below). The second option is to build a customized events RSS feed that is based on event type, date range and/or departments/centers on campus. For example, if you only want to see information about the President’s Lecture Series and events hosted by the Baker Institute, you can customize your feed to only show you those events. To do this, click on the Create Custom Feed button below to fill out the online preference form. Once completed, the form will create an RSS link which you can copy and paste into your RSS reader.
This link below is a standard RSS events feed that retrieve all of the daily events for all organizations. Copy and paste it the link into your RSS reader.
